CEMENTUM Shifted Logistics Management from Foreign Systems to 1C:TLF

As part of the ambitious import substitution project for the business critical systems, CEMENTUM shifted its logistic management to 1С:Transport Logistics and Forwarding (TLF), having replaced the stack of foreign systems which developers left Russia and curtailed their support, such as SAP, Logon, and Schenck. IBS Group was in charge of this replacement process. It took 9 month for the IBS specialists to develop and flawlessly put into operation a transport logistics management system based on 1С:TLF solution.

Logistics is one of the most sensitive processes in CEMENTUM as the company maintains the high level of service and stable delivery of products to its customers. This is very important in the construction-related business where any delivery disruption or delay may cause significant losses. Logistics in CEMENTUM was characterized by the numerous unique processes which should be preserved and recreated in 1С:TLF system. The standard functionality of this solution met the demand of the company by 30% or less.

The IBS team was tasked with continuity of the critical operating processes of CEMENTUM in a short time while maintaining at least the same level of automation and performance of the new system.

“Every day CEMENTUM performs about 1,500 shipments twenty-four-seven. Therefore, it was very important to migrate this set of business processes to import-independent software quickly and securely. IBS managed to do it on time and we could continue performing our obligations to customers without interrupting shipments,” commented CEMENTUM Logistics Director Irina Naryshkina.

The launch was complicated by the aggressive deadlines which made the proper technical design specification and standard project approach impossible. The Agile approach was used hence. A key to success was the team efforts of CEMENTUM and IBS specialists enabling to promptly respond to new findings arising during the study of the replaced systems and overcome the undocumented issues in the foreign solutions.

As part of the project the 1C:TLF solution was designed and significantly improved by the IBS specialists in accordance with the current customer needs and based on the own logistics expertise. A multilevel testing system was designed and implemented for the new solution, which included the extensive user testing with a large set of cases and various business situations. Besides testing, this improved the soon-to-be system users’ preparedness for independent use of the solution. Then the NRD and initial data were migrated from the legacy systems to the new one. Finally, the solution based on 1С:TLF was put into operation.

Currently, this import-independent system provides 24/7 shipments to customers. The solution supports 3 modes of transport (road, rail and sea), multimodal delivery and combined orders (mixed consignments), enables freight readdressing to another customer at any delivery stage, and provides all necessary analytical cost data for outbound, internal and inbound logistics. It also offers calculation of the expected cost of transport based on the tariffs.

As part of transition to the new solution, integration with the related systems was also carried out: accounting system 1С:ERP Holding Management, customer interaction system Bitrix24, weighing systems Schenck and 1С:АВТ, tracking system Geosevice24, routing system Maxoptra, and carriers portal.

“Transition from the western solutions to 1С:TLF was driven by the overall migration of CEMENTUM to the domestic software in response to exit of the foreign vendors from the Russian market and due to our commitment to technological sovereignty. With the extensive experience and high qualification of the IBS specialists, in the course of transition we managed to maintain the level of process automation and performance of our systems used by approximately 200 CEMENTUM employees daily,” commented CEMENTUM CDO Andrey Ivanov.
